Pulchowk Campus is the most reputed college affiliated with the Institute of Engineering (IOE). Every year IOE conducts an entrance examination for Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degrees. Civil Department is oldest department in Pulchowk Campus. It is the largest department considering the number of students and the faculty members. Faculty members of Civil departments are highly qualified and experienced. Labs of civil engineering department is most well equipped lab, even used to test civil engineering materials of different projects and company in Nepal. Students of this department are considered to be most competitive in Nepal.It is sure that civil engineer should be most wanted in our nation to rebiuld the war afflicted structures and also to come up with innovative ideas for the structural development.
Mechanical engineering in Pulchowk Campus is regarded as one of the best in Nepal because of its well-equipped lab, modified course structure and intelligent staff.In these days projects done by mechanical engineering students are becoming the objects of pride for the nation. Every year the ROBOT competition is organized by the institution in which the Mechanical department plays a vital role in designing the robot.
Students from the mechanical engineering department are organized with their society called SOMES. Every year SOMES conducts national level mechanical engineering exhibition which is well received by students, professionals and the general public. The latest exhibition was held on 1–2 Ashwin 2067 (17–18 September 2010). Exhibition is the showcase for engineering achievement, students projects, robotics display and many other technical activities.
